Architectural model making

My recent paintings and drawings have been inspired by domestic interiors as a means of human expression. I have always been interested in non verbal communication and and homes often become an extension of our personality. For the upcoming Hatchery exhibition I wanted to expand my skills to create models that relate to my current practice.

I had eyed up the perfect course on architectural model making starting in February at Nottingham Trent University but it was unfortunately recently cancelled. After ordering a couple of books I realised that I was going down the right path when ‘Designing with Models’ by Criss B Mills arrived in the post this morning. There are even examples of models inspired by artists including Duchamp’s ‘Nudes Descending a Staircase’. Lots of basic advice on materials and making, i feel I am in the right groove. (The other book was more an architects bible which has been returned
